parkhurst candlelight shopping extended to this thursday 2 dec 2010!

well, i thought as much. 2 shopping evenings this time of year is just not enough. the event, which was held on 18 and 25 november, proved to be a smashing hit for jozi peeps, so much so that the traders have decided to hold another evening this thursday 2nd december. last chance folks, to get your boutique shopping done under african skies. and surprisingly, parkhurst being parkhurst, prices for prezzies are reasonable...not that much different to what you would be paying if you shopped at any other jozi mall. check out the photos from the evening held on 25 november here, courtesy of photog sean buch. was loads of fun!

blake lively looking purdy

im not a blake lively fan, but the girl has style. so much so that anna wintour even gives the girl a break. and this dress is just too divine. she looks so... sculptured (the girl looks a bit thin tho). so simple and chic? you agree? pic courtesty of christianlouboutinu.com

hair trend alert

i love soft, romantic hair and this hair trend doesnt disappoint. we are always a season behind, and this is a fall 2010 trend, but its so pretty and chic that i had to share. its so simple to recreate as well.

j-hud as winnie..its almost here

eish wena. this character portrayal ruffled a lot of feathers, including ms winnie herself when she threatened the filmakers with legal action, due to the fact that she was afraid the movie would portray her in a negative light. oh well, too late. the film is due for release next year.

chic kate to wed on april 29 2011

wow. imagine being kate. no pressure. so news broke out that prince william and kate are to wed next year on april 29 2011 at the abbey and that the day is to be declared a public holiday for the lucky brits. so the game is on for british bridal designer phillipa lepley to create one of the most anticipated wedding dresses of the century - and probably the most publicised too. her engagement dress (pictured) sold out in 24 hours. phillipa, me says you are set for life now. pic courtesy of cbnews.com

christmas in jozi - a time for shopping :)

so stoked to have found the top 5 christmas markets in jozi this year! nothing like choosing your gifts from quaint, selected items... here are the top 3:

1: parkhurst candlelight shopping
a jozi tradition - its the last two thursdays every november on 4th avenue. traders stay open till late and its an awesome evening out - it usually rains and is a bit chilly weatherwise, but that just ads to the christmassy feel :)

2: bryanstan organic moonlight market
this market is also a firm favourite throughout the year - and they pull out the stops for christmas. the moonlight market is something different from their usual thursday and saturday day markets

3: unica christmas market
a firm favourite in pretoria, this daily month long market which raises money for the unice school and the association of autism is also not to be missed. over 250 traders and the market starts early and ends late for convenient shopping

wednesday = all you can eat pizza and pasta

ok, im not obessed with food (per say) but i thought seeing that it is wednesday, i may as well mention this ... picolinos in fourways has an all you can eat pizza and pasta buffet on wed evenings for only 40 bob.... for those of you that don't know, this pizza place is a kiddy friendly and festive family restaurant, tucked away in the corner of a nursery off witkoppen road - a pure treasure...feels like you are in the bush when you walk the cobbled-stone way towards the pizza oven - and they also have massive tv's so your better half wont miss his soccer/cricket/rugby or whatever else is playing. so there is no excuse! find it at 32 witkoppen road, fourways!

a little jozi secret...

... in the form of the gourmet food market, held the first sunday of every month at wanderers lapa, illovo. experience greek, portuguese, italian, organic and a plethora of tastes at this family friendly market. entertainment, great food and wine, coupled with a perfect jozi summer sunday is more than a girl could ask for! its the first of its kind in sa, where chefs prepare your meal for you while you watch. top chef meets flea market at this fiesta!
