cute father's day printables :)
happy father's day to all the daddies out there ;) i found some cute printables to make your dads day extra special. click herefor more. pics courtesy of amandaparkerandfamily.blogspot.com
i love me some animal print
i love jerseylicious. im such a fan. thanks to them im loving leopard print too - only to find out it is a major winter 2011 trend. actually, looking back, it was quite big on the 60s too, so its proven to be a classic. the trick is mixing it with base colours such as black or brown - and not to over do it. YDE has some stunning prints available. you dont have to go so bold with your print - handbag, scarves, showes and hats can help you follow this trend no problem :)

some hyde and seek
finally, a market full of goodies to rival the i heart market in durbs and some of the vintage ones in the cap. jozi has been quite slow in following this trend (and im not sure why) but now there seems to be a market that will serve this very purpose. hyde and seek is a country market where vendors sell their homemade delicacies, accessories, handmade designer clothes etc. treat your self to a chic day in jozi by visiting this market the first saturday of every month, ten to 4pm. visit their website for more info!

vovo telo opening in 4th avenue
pic courtesy of emmajanenation
so, you may have noticed the signage at full stop in parkhurst - they are moving to 7th avenue parktown north in june. its kinda sad because full stop has become an institution and almost synonymous with trendy and vibey 4th. but not to fear, because artisan bakery peeps from PE are opening their 3rd (or 4th..i dont know, dont quote me) store in its place. say hello to fresh bagels, baguetters and croissants....its always nice to have another bakery in town... they are already open in 44 on stanley, so its only fitting that they open in The Hurst as well ...for more visit vovotelo.co.za

eyelashes - then and now
oh so exciting! the other day someone asked me if my eyelashes were real! yea, i have been waiting for this....(im slightly obsessed with eyelash length if you havent noticed). you may remember i blogged about revlon's growlucious mascara and posted a pic of my own eyelashes ...
the point i was trying to make was that it actually works. however, since that post, I have been lucky enough to try rapidlash (the R650 tube of eyelash growth serum available from most salons) and i think it works...it doesnt really make the lashes longer, it thickens them...well that is my opinion...what do you think? it took about 4 weeks for me to see a difference...

my ten favourite things about winter
i think summer has officially said its goodbyes ;( dry your tears and say hello to winter! here are my ten favourite things about winter, so i'm not too sad: 1) the clothes winter is an excuse to dress tres chic. scarves, coats and burets are so much nicer to wear than summer dresses 2) the soup i love winter soup - vegetable, beef or chicken, as long as its made with cayenne pepper its a winner 3) early morning 'fresh' air i love the promise of a winter morning when the air is crisp and the sun is shining...its a promise of a great day ahead 4) reading i love reading a book in a sun patch in my lounge on a cold winter afternoon. nuff said 5) the cosy stay in watch tv nights 6) a cup of hot coffee in the morning - wether it be at your house, at mugg and bean or wherever 7) the bathing ritual. its a lot more appreciated in winter 8) fluffy socks need i say more? 9) a cosy, blankety bed zzzzzzzzzz 10) red wine by the fire place pics: the sartorialist, drizzleanddrip, seaofshoes, parisboutiquehotel, myhomeideas

elizabeth's timeless style in cat on a hot tin roof
i was flicking through the channels on dstv the other day and liz taylor in all her 50s glory caught my eye on TCM. cat on a hot tin roof was playing and liz was decked out in this beautiful classic white ensemble. what really impressed me was that this dress is so classic, it can still be worn to this day. i absolutely love it!

buddha ta anyone?
finally, there is a new spot to see and be seen in jozi. buddha ta in the design quarter fourways is a new bistro / bar where you can indulge in cocktails and your own customised tapa platters or, if that doesnt tickle your fancy, you can go a la carte. seems quite vibey from the outside. havent been yet, but will be popping in for a birthday do over the weekend to see if it really is as fab as everyone says it is :)
the style exhange network. i love!
things like this make me sooo excited. how would you like the idea of exchanging old clothes for something new(er) or updating your wardrobe without breaking the bank? well thanks to the style exchange network you can do both. its a novel concept and its operating right here in jozi. basically its a new way of buying and selling clothes - you can sell your clothes and get cash or you can exchange them for another something else. you know what they say, one persons old is another persons new. so if you like bargain hunting and have style, then this is for you.

these are quite hard to find - and they are so pretty. colourful macaroons are tres french darlings! you can get your box of ganache filled creme puffs from hamperess.co.za - its a bit steep in price, so it will probably work well as a gift for someone really special
